As a marriage and family therapist I work with individuals, couples, and families. Therapy can be an uncomfortable process at times, which is why I have created a space that is inviting, relaxing, and safe in order to best support it. Therapy is a chance to better understand our view of the world, examine any relationship issues, and become better versions of ourselves.
My therapeutic style is both collaborative and supportive. This means I collaborate with each client to explore possibilities for change and growth. My approach is a holistic and systemic one, which means I focus on relationships and the impact they have on one’s emotional, physical, and mental health. Many of the challenges in clients’ lives stem from trouble within the various relationships that they are involved in. Utilizing this strength-based approach allows clients to discover and utilize their own individual strengths to overcome current challenges. Throughout therapy, I continue to assist clients in using their challenges as opportunities for change and growth.
I highly value the importance of the therapeutic relationship. My passion lies in drawing upon my own personal struggles and experiences in order to connect and collaborate with each client. Outside of my education and professional experience, I have a great deal of life under my belt, some of which has been amazingly difficult. I can relate to working through difficult times and I know what it feels like to change and grow from challenges. These experiences have impacted who I am as a therapist and I use them as motivation to continue to support and guide my clients. I think it is important for a therapist to value the work they ask their clients to do, because they too have been there.
